Moving time forward is the button you press most in ManageFC, so its speed shapes how the whole game feels. At the start of August 2026, advancing a week in a mid-sized world of ten leagues took around eight and a half minutes. That is long enough to make a cup of tea, and far too long for the most-used button in the game.
By the end of the month the same skip took 84 seconds.
First, measure
The tempting approach is to guess what is slow and rewrite it. We did the opposite: we split a time skip into its phases — matches, the transfer market, the weekly routines — and measured how long each one took, in a real world, several times over.
The measurements told a clear story. The work itself was reasonable; what was slow was finding things. As worlds grew, the game spent more and more time looking up the information each step needed — the right players, the right fixtures, the right standings — rather than actually simulating anything.
Then, fix the real cause
We reorganised how the game finds that information, so that each lookup goes straight to what it needs instead of searching through everything. Nothing about the football changed. The results were immediate:
No shortcuts in the simulation
One decision deserves a mention, because it is the reason a skip still takes more than a few seconds. Every match in your world is fully simulated, including the ones in leagues you never look at. A match in a division you have not opened all season still produces goals, injuries, ratings, morale changes and finances for the clubs involved — because those clubs might be your opponents next season, or sell you a player in January.
Many games cheat here, resolving distant matches with a quick dice roll. We prefer a world where everything that happens has actually been played. Simulating all those matches is now the biggest share of a skip, and it is the next place we will look for speed — without giving up on it being real.
Small things that helped
The same week, two smaller changes made time skips more reliable:
- Interrupted skips recover by themselves. If anything stops a skip halfway, it is picked up again cleanly, without playing any day twice.
- Each skip reports its own timing, phase by phase, so if a world ever slows down again we will know exactly where.
What it means for you
Days now pass at a pace that keeps you in the game: one or three days at a time, a few seconds to a minute or so depending on the size of your world, with the clock always stopping on the day of your next match. If a skip ever feels slow in your save, tell us — we would genuinely like the example.
