When we moved to English only in May, we removed the automatic translations. We assumed that was the end of it. Over the summer, players kept occasionally finding words that did not belong: a Swedish label here, a Norwegian one there, a sentence that showed a raw template code instead of a number.
In September 2026 we stopped fixing those one at a time and reviewed every piece of text in the game.
Why leftovers are hard to find
The obvious kind of mistake — a text that is simply missing — is easy to catch. The difficult kind is a text that exists, looks valid, and is wrong: an old automatic translation left behind in the English version, or a sentence written for a screen that no longer exists. Nothing breaks, so nothing warns you. It just reads oddly.
So we went through all 5,558 pieces of text the game uses, looking for three things:
- words in any language other than English;
- sentences with leftover template codes, the kind that show "Last {n} weeks" instead of "Last 6 weeks";
- whole families of text belonging to features that had been removed.
What we found
Most of what we removed was dead weight: texts for features that had left the game long ago, such as old cross-world leagues, missions and referral rewards. A few dozen were real leftovers in other languages, mostly from Scandinavian translations. Two were genuine bugs a player could see: the morale screen's "Last {n} weeks" and a manager attribute that showed a template code instead of its value. Both were fixed and checked on screen.
We also unified how money is written. A few places still showed euros where the rest of the game used dollars; they now all follow the same base, which you can still convert to your own currency in the settings.
Checking our privacy promises
While we were reviewing the game's words, we checked the promises we make in our cookie policy. On a first visit, the cookie banner appears and asks for your choice, and analytics and advertising only begin once you have made it. We tested it from a clean browser, exactly as a new visitor would arrive, and we keep the cookie policy updated whenever the way the site behaves changes.
Privacy promises are text too, and they deserve the same care as everything else on screen.
Fresh screenshots
The same week, we retook every screenshot used on the public website with a fresh club, so that the pictures on our page-by-page tour show the game as it really is today.
