Match day
Chapter 6 of 21 · see all chapters
🏟️ Every fixture in ManageFC is resolved by the match engine — a deterministic simulation seeded per match. It takes both clubs' formation, style, mentality, tactical dials, morale, player condition and form, the captain, home advantage and a seeded random factor, then plays out 90+ minutes producing a minute-by-minute event log: final score, possession share, shots on target, cards, injuries, goalscorers, assist providers and individual player ratings.
There are two ways to get to full time. The default is to skip time past kickoff and let the engine simulate the match. The alternative is live play: open the fixture and choose to play it live — the match is then split into 18 segments of five minutes, and between segments you can change your mentality, switch style, make a substitution or give a team talk. At half-time you get a report with its own team-talk options. Live or simulated, the engine and the seed are the same, so the consequences are identical — live play just lets you intervene.
Pre-match preparation lives on the Tactics screen: formation, mentality, the four tactical dials, captain, set-piece takers and your substitution plan are all read from there. The engine builds each side's XI automatically — a goalkeeper first, then the highest current ability available — so squad quality and fitness are what decide who plays, and the surest way to influence selection is to keep the squad deep and rested.
📊 Ratings are worth reading. Each player starts at 6.0 and moves with his current ability relative to the match average — roughly 0.7 of a point for every 20 CA above or below it, clamped to 4.5–7.5 before events. Consistency then adds swing: the most consistent players barely vary, the least consistent swing by over a point either way. Playing time matters (under 75 minutes costs 0.2, under 30 costs 0.3), defenders and keepers are rewarded for clean sheets (+0.6 and +0.8), midfielders gain 0.3 when the team holds over 55% possession and lose 0.2 below 45%, and winners gain 0.4 while losers drop 0.2. The final number is clamped to a 1–10 scale and feeds the player's form.
🎽 One detail worth setting yourself: a captain who is on the pitch gives the whole side a 1.5% force bonus for the match. It is small, but it is free — and it is another reason to check that your captain is fit and playing.
Matchday checklist
- Open the fixture from the dashboard or the Matches screen at least one day before kickoff.
- Set your tactics on the Tactics screen: formation, mentality, dials, captain, set-piece takers and substitution plan. Watch squad condition — below 70% means tired.
- Pick a pre-match speech on the Morale screen — match it to the squad's mood (if morale is low, "calm" or "relaxed" beats "demanding").
- Decide the route: skip time past kickoff for a full simulation, or open live play and manage the match segment by segment.
- After full time, read the ratings and the event log — they tell you which dials and which players are actually working before the next fixture.
