Cup competitions
National cup format, seeded draws and the upside of a deep run.
Every country in ManageFC features at least one national knockout cup. Clubs from multiple divisions enter, often with lower-tier clubs entering earlier rounds and top-tier sides joining at the third or fourth round. Cup runs are a fast track to silverware, prize money and continental qualification.
Format
Most cups are pure single-leg knockout with the higher-seeded club drawn at home where possible. Some use two-legged ties for semi-finals. Draws are seeded to keep top-division clubs apart in early rounds; from the quarter-finals onwards the draw is open.
Upsets matter
The cup is where lower-division clubs occasionally make their names by knocking out a top-flight side. The match engine respects ratings but cup atmosphere and motivation skew variance slightly higher than in routine league fixtures. Don't rotate every starter for a cup tie against a third-division side unless you're comfortable with a higher upset chance.
Prize money and qualification
- Per-round payouts grow as you advance — semi-finals and finals are significant cash injections.
- Cup winners typically qualify for the secondary continental competition the following season.
- A deep cup run also boosts club reputation and improves future sponsor and youth intake quality.
Squad management
Early rounds are the right place to rotate fringe players and give youth prospects minutes. From the quarter-finals onwards, your strongest available XI should usually start. Cup ties stack on top of league fixtures, so manage condition aggressively — see the Condition article.
